Perrysburg schools discuss facilities tonight

PERRYSBURG — The Perrysburg Exempted Village School District Board of Education will hold a special meeting tonight to hear a presentation by the community facility committee on its work over the past year and learn its recommendations regarding facility needs.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria of the Commodore Building.

Gorrell/Wooster intersection closes in BG

The West Wooster Street and Gorrell Avenue intersection will be closed until Friday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. for waterline work.

The intersection will be open during overnight hours. Dates of this closure are subject to change and are dependent on weather and the progress of work.

Monthly food distribution is Friday

The monthly food distribution and senior food box program will be offered Friday from 10-11:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1526 E. Wooster St.

Free fresh produce and food will be available in limited quantities. This is for anyone in Wood County who meets the income guidelines or who has recently lost their job. SeaGate Food Bank also is present at the same time to handout Senior Boxes to those who meet their eligibility requirements.

There will be drive-thru set-up this month to distribute food. Visitors are asked to remain in their vehicles in the church parking lot and wait for volunteer instructions. The pantry will not open early, so early line-ups are discouraged.

Freedom Twp. reviews buidling plans

PEMBERVILLE — Freedom Township will hold a special meeting of the board of trustees on Friday at 2 p.m. for the purpose of reviewing the office/maintenance building plans with the contractor, as well as approving the Permanent Appropriations for 2023.

The township building is located at 198 Water St.

Gavarone to address Woodcreek residents

WALBRIDGE — State Sen. Theresa Gavarone, R-Bowling Green, of Ohio’s 2nd Senate District is scheduled to give a presentation to residents of Woodcreek Village near Walbridge at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the complex clubhouse.

The presentation is part of the Neighborhood Watch program, sponsored by the Lake Township Police Department.

The senator is to address the group primarily on the state’s homestead exemption but will take questions from the group on other topics.

BG Human Relations Commission meets

The Bowling Green Human Relations Commission will meet on Friday at 8 a.m. in council chamber, 3rd floor of the city building, 304 N. Church St.

BG Civil Service Commission sets meeting

The Bowling Green Civil Service Commission will meet at 10:30 a.m.. on March 9 in the human resources department, which is located on the top floor of the City Administrative Services Building, 304 N Church St.

The purpose of the meeting is to review, modify, add and/or recommend changes to Civil Service Rules, take all actions necessary to establish eligibility and certified lists, establishing testing procedures and processes, establishing passing examination scores, accept requests to waive out of hiring processes, and/or certify or refuse to certify names of candidates deemed eligible for consideration for hire or promotion to classified positions. Action will also be taken, as necessary, to modify, add, accept, or abolish job descriptions, and to establish classified positions and/or schedule and/or establish the requirements for or types of hiring or promotional examinations.

Pemberville Legion hosts fish dinners

PEMBERVILLE — American Legion Post 183 have planned several Lake Erie perch dinners.

Dates are March 10, March 24 and April 7 and are drive-thru carry-out only.

The price per dinner is $16 and includes five pieces of perch, french fries, applesauce, roll and butter.

The legion is located at 405 E. Front St.

The dinners are sponsored by Sal Squadron 183.

Governor appoints BG woman to commission

Erin Limes Stickel of Bowling Green has been reappointed to the Ohio Expositions Commission for a term beginning Feb. 24, 2023, and ending Dec. 1, 2028.

Gov. Mike DeWine announced the appointment on Friday.
