MILLBURY — At a special meeting held on Feb. 17, the Lake Local Schools Board of Education hired Maria Robinson as treasurer. She will begin full time on March 10.

Robinson has most recently been the chief financial officer for the Lorain Public Library System. Robinson was also the chief financial officer at the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Erie and Ottawa counties and worked for the Ohio Auditor of State’s Office. She has 19 years of experience working in government.

Board President John Ervin cited Robinson’s experience.

“Maria’s wealth of experience working in the state government sector will allow her to hit the ground running as our district begins building a new elementary school and working through the financial challenges public schools are facing. The board is excited to welcome Maria to our district,” he said.

Robinson lives in Oak Harbor with her husband, and their three children who attend Benton-Carroll-Salem Schools.

Treasurer Monica Leppelmeier resigned from Lake last fall to take the treasurer’s job at Eastwood Local Schools.
