BGSU tennis sweeps singles, earns second straight win

DAYTON – The Bowling Green State University tennis team (3-5) earned a 4-3 non-conference win over the Northern Kentucky Norse (5-3) Saturday.

After getting swept in the doubles round, the Falcons rallied with singles wins from Eloise Saraty, Hannah Neuman, Maru Poppe, and Leticia Fonseca. This is BGSU’s second consecutive victory.

Saraty’s triumph marks her 15th total victory of the 2022-23 season, the most on the team. This spring, she has a 4-0 record when playing at No. 2 singles.

Neuman now has five singles wins in the 2022-23 season, with her career win total reaching 41. Poppe notched her second singles win of the spring, giving her 22 career combined wins. Fonseca has four singles wins this year and stands at 4-1 when playing in No. 6 singles.

The Falcons play one match next weekend before beginning their spring break trip. On Friday, Bowling Green hosts Wayne State for a 1 p.m. match at the Perrysburg Tennis Center.

From there, they head to Florida for a pair of non-conference matches. On March 6, they will be hosted by Ave Maria at 1 p.m. The following morning, they travel to Lake Nona, Florida, for an 8 a.m. match with Providence.
