Bowling Green senior Zaresha Neal has earned Mid-American Conference Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.

Neal won the shot put at the GVSU Big Meet, matching her personal record with a mark of 56-4.75 (17.19m). This places her first in the MAC and 14th in the NCAA.

Her distance is first in the MAC by nearly six feet. It currently ranks fourth in the Great Lakes Region and is tied for fourth in BGSU history.

With this throw, Neal has three of the top 10 and eight of the top 20 marks in school history. She has placed first or second in the shot put at each meet this season, increasing her mark each time.

This is Neal’s fourth MAC award of her career. Three of those recognition’s have come during the indoor season. This is also Bowing Green’s second honor of the season, matching last season’s total (both Neal).

“‘Z’ is coming into some of her best form so far this season just at the right time with MAC Championships next week,” said BGSU throws coach Marcus Myers.

“Her commitment to nothing less than excellence in her throws training, weight room, and overall demeanor as an elite athlete is starting to show in a big way. Looking forward to bigger and better throws for Z in our next few competitions.”

The Falcons head to Ann Arbor for the final meet of the indoor regular season. They will compete at the Silverston Invitational, hosted by the University of Michigan on Friday, Feb. 17.

The following weekend, Bowling Green hosts the 2023 MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at Perry Field House. The meet will begin at 10 a.m. on Feb. 24-25.
