Mackin to recommend McCullough as new Perrysburg fire chief

PERRYSBURG— The city will soon have a new fire chief.

Mayor Tom Mackin will recommend William McCullough at the next Perrysburg Council Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Once he is confirmed by city council, McCullough will be sworn in on his first day, which is expected be March 13. He will replace Chief Rudy Ruiz who retired last September.

McCullough currently works for the Jefferson Township Fire Department in Blacklick, Ohio, where he has served as battalion chief and paramedic since 2010. His resume includes positions as a firefighter and paramedic for the Granville Township Fire Department, an EMS and fire instructor for the Ohio Fire Academy, deputy fire chief for the Bath Township Fire Department, firefighter and paramedic for the Shawnee Township Fire Department, and paramedic for Toledo Hospital’s Promedica Air.
