Volunteers needed to remove wreaths from graves

The Eastwood Community Wreaths Across America Committee will be removing the wreaths from graves on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

Volunteers are welcome to come to Webster Township and New Belleville Ridge cemeteries at 9 a.m. Freedom Township volunteers will start at Eisenhour, then move to Pemberville, finishing at Fish Cemetery. Volunteers are asked to arrive at Troy Township Cemetery, which has a morning funeral, at 1 p.m.

Fish fry supports G. Rapids post

GRAND RAPIDS — American Legion Post 232 will have a fish fry on Friday from 5-7 p.m. or sold out. The cost is $15 per meal. Eat-in or carryout is available. Desserts and drinks will be available.

Kindergarten teacher talks to Kiwanis Club

The Bowling Green Kiwanis will meet on Thursday at the Wood County Senior Center, 140 S. Grove St. The public is welcome to attend. The meeting starts at noon and lunch is available starting at 11:30 a.m.

This week the club welcomes speaker Melissa Hemminger. Her topic of discussion will be Rewards and Challenges of Teaching Kindergarten. Hemminger is a life-long resident of Bowling Green and graduated from Bowling Green High School in 2004. She has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Bowling Green State University. She is in her 14th year of teaching and her last 10 years have been teaching kindergarteners and first graders at Crim Elementary.
