Bobcat swimmers tie, lose to Bryan

BRYAN — The Bowling Green girls swim team tied with Bryan, 90-90, and the BG boys lost to the Golden Bears, 87-77, at the Bryan YMCA Monday.

The BG 200-yard medley relay team of seniors Maggie Layne and Maddy Desmond, junior Izzy Espinoza, and freshman Pressli Krupp won in 2:06.58, defeating Bryan (2:13.82) by over seven seconds.

Desmond won the 200 freestyle, finishing in 2:08.51 to defeat second place Bryan freshman Nora Kunsman (2:10.59).

BG junior Ella Billiot won the 200 intermediate medley with a time of 2:33.87, beating Bryan senior Tristyn Durdel (2:41.96) by over eight seconds.

Layne won the 100 butterfly, finishing in 1:10.02 to beat second place Bryan sophomore Kate Thormeier (1:19.82). Layne also won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:55.7 to defeat Bryan senior Allee Zigler (6:04.19).

BG freshman Melanie Long won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:15.07 to defeat second place Bryan sophomore Serenity Johnson (1:18.24) by over three seconds.

The BG boys 200 medley relay team of senior Aaron Mejiritiski, juniors Dillon O’Connell and Alex Xu, and sophomore Colin Sargent won in 1:54, defeating Bryan (1:59.54) by over five seconds.

Xu won the 200 freestyle in 2:02.55, just ahead of Bryan freshman Carter Luce (2:03.36). Xu also won the 100 freestyle, finishing in 52.1 seconds to down Bryan freshman William McCann (55.27).

Mejiritski won the 100 butterfly, finishing in 1:02.33 to defeat Bryan junior Griffin Davis (1:05.23) by just under three seconds.

BG junior Aiden Hildebrand won the 100 backstroke, finishing in 1:08.28 to nip Bryan sophomore Aiden Moore (1:09.87).
