Lorena Ann Schwab, 80, of Rudolph, Ohio passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023 at the Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, Ohio.

She was born November 18, 1942 in Findlay to the late Howard and Gineth (Henning) Challen.

While attending a high school dance, Lorena asked a classmate, James Schwab to a dance and that moment created a legacy. They both graduated from Deshler High School in 1960 and Lorena attended the University of Toledo for one year. Then on August 24, 1963 they were married at St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar and were going to celebrate 60 years of marriage this year.

Lorena worked for the former Cygnet Bank; Holiday Inn, Findlay and was a legal secretary for the former Rakestraw & Rakestraw Law Office, Findlay. While raising her children, she stayed home and was also a Girl Scout Leader for her daughters.

She attended Holy Family Catholic Church, North Baltimore, Ohio. Over the years, her and Jim continued dancing. They were members of the former Kolonial Dance Club where they had orchestras and theme parties. They enjoyed camping and have many fond memories of Meadowbrook Park, Bascom, Ohio. She enjoyed collectibles and antiques. These collections included butterflies, Fostoria Coin glass, milk glass, Royal Dalton figurines and sewing machines.

Lorena was a skilled quilter and knitter. She created so many beautiful items and has gifted them to all members of her family and countless friends. She was a member of the Black Swamp Quilters. She enjoyed reading and being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother (“Mema”).

She is survived by her loving husband, James Schwab; children, Deborah (Andrew) Tucker; Cynthia (Arthur) Hotaling, III; David (Gail) Schwab; grandchildren, Devin Tucker; Tyler Tucker; Amanda (Matthew) Archer; A.J. (Leslie) Hotaling, IV; Alyssa Schwab and Andrew Schwab.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Challen.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with Fr. Art Niewiadomski officiating. Graveside services will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler, Ohio.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Thursday and from 10-11 a.m., Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society or Wood County Humane Society.
