Mich. man seriously hurt after rear-ending truck

MILLBURY — A Michigan man suffered life-threatening injuries after he reportedly struck a truck on Ohio 420 at Libbey Road in Lake Township on Monday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

At 10:37 a.m., troopers from the Bowling Green post responded to the two-vehicle crash.

Martin T. Hinton, 69, Minerva, driving a 2014 International semi tractor-trailer combination southbound on Route 420, was stopped at a red traffic light at Libbey Road.

Joseph R. Harris, 22, Clarkston, Michigan, driving a 2021 Subaru Outback southbound on Route 420, struck the rear of Hinton’s trailer, according to the patrol.

Harris was transported to Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, by Lake Township EMS with life-threatening injuries.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.

The crash remains under investigation.

The patrol was assisted by the Lake Township Police Department, Lake Township Fire and EMS, and Pat and Son Towing.

From the Farm looks at river dredge

The Wood Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting a From the Farm meeting Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings 1550 E. Wooster St.

The topic is beneficial reuse of dredge material. Learn more about this Bowling Green State University research project on the potential of river dredge material as a soil amendment and nutrient source. The event is open to the public. Snacks will be provided.

Habitat for Humanity topic of Rotary Club

The Bowling Green Rotary Club speaker on Thursday will be Mark Ohashi, executive director, Habitat for Humanity of Wood County Inc. and Rotary Club member.

He will discuss the outlook for 2023 and Habitat for Humanity’s efforts to address the need for affordable housing in Wood County. The club meets at noon at Bowling Green Country Club.
