Jean Ellen Tahy, age 92, of Fremont, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday (January 22, 2023) at Elmwood Skilled Nursing Home of Fremont, Ohio surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 22, 1930 in Bradner, Ohio to the late Ellsworth R. & Doris H. (Walters) Adkins. She married Charles Stephen Tahy, Jr. on June 7, 1952 in Bradner, Ohio and he passed away on February 7, 2022.

Surviving Jean is her daughter, Deb (Lee) Weiss of Fremont, Ohio; sons, Tom (Kathy) Tahy of Wayne, Ohio, Terry Tahy of Bradner, Ohio; grandchildren, Tony (Stephanie) Tahy, Keri Smith, Zachary Schroeder, Harmony Tahy, Toby (Abigail) Tahy, Travis (Chelsie) Tahy; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Maggie, Ryder, Tatum, Jasmine, Eloise, Thomas, Lucille & Theodore. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellsworth & Doris; husband, Charles; grandson, Tracy Tahy.

Jean was a 1948 Graduate of Bradner High School and then went to beauty school in Fremont, Ohio. She was the owner of the former Jean’s Beauty Shop for many years in Bradner, Ohio. She was a member of the Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338 Auxiliary and the Bradner United Methodist Church where she was active singing in the choir. She enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida, playing bingo, working on ceramics, playing cards and participating in various bowling leagues, but most of all spending time with her family.

Special thank you to the staff of Promedica Hospice & Elmwood Care Facility in Fremont for taking loving care of our mother and another huge thank you to Laura Davies for being a best friend & care giver to our mother & father during their final days.

Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday (January 26, 2023) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio with an Albert Bowe American Legion Auxiliary Service at 7:45 PM Thursday. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday (January 27, 2023) at Barndt Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Lehr officiating. A bereavement luncheon will follow at the Albert Bowe American Legion Hall in Bradner, Ohio. Burial will be in Bradner Cemetery near Bradner, Ohio at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Promedica Hospice.
