BGSU tennis sweeps Holy Cross, 7-0

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University womens tennis team opened the spring portion of the 2023 season with a 7-0 victory over Holy Cross, winning all matches across singles and doubles play.

Ioanna Tsadari and Eloise Saraty earned their second victory of the 2022-23 campaign as a doubles team, with this being their first in the spring.

The doubles duo of Lucy Furness and Hannah Neuman earned their first victory as a duo, as did the pair of Maru Poppe and Leticia Fonseca.

All six Falcons carried their success into singles play, with each one winning to help the Falcons start the spring season 1-0. Fonseca’s victory marked the first of her collegiate career.

In singles, Ioanna Tsadari (BGSU) defeated Victoria Savvidou (HC), 7-6 (3), 6-0; Eloise Saraty (BGSU) defeated Kia Carvalho-Landell (HC), 6-1, 2-6, 6-3; and Lucy Furness (BGSU) defeated Helga Lopez (HC), 3-6, 7-6 (4), 11-9

Continuing in singles, Maru Poppe (BGSU) defeated Diane Maillotte (HC), 6-3, 7-6 (1); Hannah Neuman (BGSU) defeated Anna Beer (HC), 6-0, 6-1; and Leticia Fonseca (BGSU) defeated Clara Ruediger (HC), 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles, the team of Tsadari and Saraty (BGSU) def. Lopez and Carvalho-Landell (HC), 6-3; Furness and Neuman (BGSU) defeated Beer and Savvidou (HC), 7-5; and Poppe and Fonseca (BGSU) defeated Maillotte and Ruediger (HC), 6-0
