Prep Roundup: Bobcats down Huron, 55-46, win fourth straight

SANDUSKY — Jabari Conway scored 20 points, including hitting two three-point shots and going 6-for-7 at the free throw line as Bowling Green defeated Huron, 55-46, at the Cedar Point Jingle Bell Jam Friday.

BG won its fourth straight game and improves to 5-3, while Huron falls to 4-4.

Jake Amspoker had three triples and scored 15 points and Brock Hastings also had three triples, scoring 14 for the Bobcats. Reece Rath and Brayden Freyman added two points each for BG.

BG trailed 16-12 after the first quarter but put together 17-2 run in the second quarter as Hastings and Conway both hit shots from behind the arc.

The Tigers closed the gap to two points, 38-36, entering the fourth quarter, but Amspoker hit two treys and Hastings scored on one three-pointer in the fourth quarter.

Conway and Amspoker combined to go 6-for-7 at the line as BG pulled away in the fourth. The Tigers made just two of six free throws in the second half.

BG finished with 11 turnovers while the Tigers had just nine. For the Tigers, Adam Murray scored 15 points, Dylan Hohler scored 14, Jake Lagando scored six, and Luke Rager scored five points.

Lake 44, Bowling Green 40

MILLBURY — In a non-league girls basketball game Friday, Bowling Green led 15-11 after one quarter and 24-22 at the half, but Lake held the Bobcats to four fourth quarter points to win, 44-40.

Elise Staczek scored 20 points for the Flyers, including going 8-for-12 at the free throw line. Jessie Materni added 11 points for Lake, including scoring on two three-point goals. Lake improves to 5-7 on the season

Lola Thompson led BG with 12 points, London Thompson scored seven, Jamie Sayen and Allie Fry scored six apiece, Sydney Maas scored five, and Macyn Dean-Scheele and Shayle Greiner added two points each.

Mary Enright scored nine points and Lauren Tobias and Kyleigh Christ added two points each to round out the Flyers’ scoring.
