Dr. Patricia “Patty” Shawberry was a caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on December 14, 2022 at age 50.
She was born to Vernon and Sharon (Miller) Evers on May 16, 1972 in Wauseon, Ohio. After graduating from high school, Patty continued her education at BGSU where she met her husband, Jason Shawberry. They married on June 18, 1994 before Patty continued her studies at The Medical College of Ohio. Together, they had 4 children: Justin, Joshua, Jenna and Julianne. Sharon, Jason, and the four kids survive.
Patty is also survived by her two brothers: Steven (Connie) Johson-Evers, Michael (Sarah) Evers; parents-in-law: Dennis and Bonita Shawberry; two future children-in-law: Alyssa Kennedy and Seth Miller; brothers-in-law: Jeff (Ellie) Shawberry and Jay (Kathleen) Shawberry; sister-in- law, Teresa Shawberry, her loving aunts and uncles, 4 nieces, 4 nephews, and her beloved family friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon, and her Aunts Annagene (Miller) Evers and Beverly Miller.
Patty lived a life of service in medicine. A truly caring physician, she spent much of her professional career in community health, corrections facilities, and other such underserved locales. She was a staunch advocate for mental health in every way.
At a personal level, Patty loved spending time in the kitchen, especially cooking Sunday dinners for her family and friends, bringing everyone back home each and every week. She was a prolific reader, and treasured her broad collection of books. She cherished her children.
One of her favorite hobbies was recording their lives through her photography and the volumes of scrapbooks that she created for each of them.
Those wishing to honor her life can make a donation in her name to North Clinton Church (Wauseon, OH), National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), or another charitable organization of the donor’s choice.
Visitation for Patty will be held on Wednesday December 21, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green. Her funeral service will be held the following day on December 22, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster Street.
