Bowling Green City Schools will be closed on Friday due to illness.
“We have seen a steady increase in the number of student and staff illness across the district over the past several days,” said Superintendent Francis Scruci in an email to parents on Thursday.
“We were hoping with everyone practicing and reinforcing positive hygiene habits that we could make it through the end of the semester without making a difficult decision. However, this email is to inform you that tomorrow, Friday, December 16, 2022 the Bowling Green City Schools will be closed. It is our hope by closing school will help slow the illness spread.”
The closure will allow custodial staff to do a deep clean of all buildings while allowing individuals to become or stay healthy before the holiday break, Scruci said.
“It is our intent to be open all three days next week as we have exams and holiday events that our staff and students look forward to having each year at this time,” he said.
