Cinnamon roll fundraiser helps Risingsun fire dept.

RISINGSUN — The Risingsun Volunteer Fire Department held its second Cinnamon Roll Fundraiser on Oct. 15.

Community members pre-ordered cinnamon rolls that were baked the day of the event. The fundraiser, which begins before the sun comes up, helps generate enough money to be able to provide the tools and equipment that are essential to help protect the village and surrounding communities.

The department also gets donations from outside organizations as well.

Fostoria AMVETS is one of those groups the had a large impact on the ability of the department to make those improvements. Through the AMVETS’ generosity, the department has been able to purchase two new double ovens from Whirlpool to help make fundraisers such as the cinnamon rolls possible.

The fire department has also been able to upgrade its positive pressure fan, which now is battery operated instead of fuel-powered.

Contributions made by the AMVETS have also allowed the fire department to purchase two low-level strainers. They utilize for drafting water from various water sources, but are commonly used to draft water from portable tanks at a fire scene.
