Prep roundup: Jackets rout Cougars, 67-34

PERRYSBURG—Hayley Griggs scored 14 points, Meagan Gibbs scored 11, and Ayla Turk scored 10 as Perrysburg girls basketball defeated Southview, 67-34, in Northern Lakes League action Thursday.

The Yellow Jackets opened a 21-9 first quarter lead and expanded that to 41-17 by halftime as Hayley Griggs already had 12 points, including one three-point goal.

Chloe Kilbride scored eight points, Wrigley Takats and Natalie French scored six points apiece, Taylor Jockett and Kallie Thames scored five apiece, and Aubrey Evans added two points for the Jackets.

Perrysburg made nine three-point goals, including two each by French and Turk. The Jackets were also 8-for-9 from the free throw line.

For Southview, Paige Brown and Carys Bourbeau scored nine points apiece, Cassie Schramm scored eight points, Kayla Johnson scored four points, and Kaela Dupree and Kaitlyn Protsman added two points each.

Perrysburg improves to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the NLL while Southview is 1-2 and 0-2.

Elmwood 39, Rossford 35

BLOOMDALE — Elmwood broke open a 25-25 tie entering the fourth quarter and defeated Rossford, 39-35, in Northern Buckeye Conference girls basketball Thursday.

The Royals improve to 2-2 and are unbeaten in two league games, while Rossford falls to 1-3 and 0-2.

Cara Frank led Elmwood with a double-double 18 points, 12 rebounds, seven steals and three assists.

Aubrey Johnson scored five points and grabbed eight rebounds and McKenzie Laird and Kate Keiffer scored four apiece for the Royals.

Anna Meyer had three points, four assists and three steals, Madi Lee scored three points, and Allyie Reynolds added two points for Elmwood.

The Royals, which had 39 rebounds and 10 turnovers, were 14-of-22 (64%) shooting inside the arc, 4-for-11 outside the arc, and made 9-of-20 free throws.

Scarlett Williams led Rossford with 19 points, Madison Kutscher scored eight points, Haley Hogan and Lola Luderman scored three apiece and Mia Debortoli added two points.

Woodmore 56, Lake 16

ELMORE — Woodmore opened a 20-3 first quarter lead and cruised to a 56-16 Northern Buckeye Conference girls basketball victory over Lake Thursday.

The Wildcats are 2-1 overall and unbeaten in two NBC games, while Lake falls to 1-4 and 1-1.

Woodmore got nine points in the scoring column, led by Macey Bauder, who scored 19.

Penelope Garcia led Lake with six points on two three-point goals, Jessie Materni scored five, Elena Longoria and Elise Staczek scored two apiece and Kyleigh Christ added one point.

The Flyers were 4-for-15 from the free throw line and committed 30 turnovers.

For Woodmore, Jordan Beam and Kara Schneider scored nine points apiece, and Cameron Quisno and Mackenzie Krukemeyer scored five apiece.

Camille Strong and Paige Helmke scored three points each, Alayna Hahn scored two points and Abby Sandrock added one point for Woodmore.

Northwood 43, Otsego 25

TONTOGANY — Carissa Davise scored 12 points and Natalie Thompson added 11 as Northwood defeated host Otsego, 43-25, in non-league girls basketball Wednesday.

The Rangers, who had 21 free throw attempts, making eight, got nine players in the scoring column. The Rangers led by just two, 15-13, at halftime, but broke the game wide open in the second half.

Zoe Turner scored seven points, Lexi Haas scored four points, Eden Schoch, Regan Grant, E.B. Wauford, and Cassidy Genson scored two points each, and Bree Bolden added one point.

For the Knights, Lauren Hillesheim hit two three-point goals on her way to scoring nine points, Samantha Lehr was 4-for-6 from the free throw line and scored nine points, Sophie Dimick scored five points and Nataleigh Hartman added two points.
