Wood County Health Department conducts inspections

Wood County Health Department inspectors visited eating establishments in Rossford, Perrysburg, Bowling Green and Pemberville earlier this month.

The following inspections were done on Nov. 7.

Truenorth Store, 1000 Buck Road, Rossford, had one critical offense, which was temperature-controlled foods not being cold held at the proper temperature. It was corrected during inspection.

During a follow-up inspection, Eric’s Ice Cream Factory, 215 E. Wooster St., Bowling Green, had one non-critical offense, which was food service organization did not have a person in charge per shift with the person in charge certification in food protection.

During a follow-up inspection, Tim Hortons, 1011 Buck Road, Rossford, had three non-critical offenses, which were equipment components are not intact, tight or properly adjusted; non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean; and facility not maintained clean.

Biggby Coffee, 10584 Fremont Pike, Perrysburg, had two critical and three non-critical offenses.

Critical were employees are not informed in a verifiable manner of their responsibility to report information about their health; and temperature-controlled foods not being cold held at the proper temperature (repeat).

Non-critical were no written procedures for responding to vomiting or diarrheal events; temperature-controlled foods not properly thawed (corrected during inspection); and food service organization did not have a person in charge per shift with the person in charge certification in food protection.

Quality Inn, 10621 Fremont Pike, Perrysburg, had six critical and seven non-critical violations.

Critical were utensils and food-contact surfaces of equipment not sanitized at the required frequency; temperature-controlled foods not being cold held at the proper temperature (corrected during inspection); ready-to-eat, temperature-controlled food not properly discarded when required (corrected during inspection); improper use of time as a public health control (four hours); working containers of poisonous or toxic materials not properly labeled (corrected during inspection); and proper utensils not provided at customer self-service area (corrected during inspection).

Non-critical were no written procedures for time as a public health control; food employee(s) not wearing a hair restraint; latex gloves being used in the food service organization or retail food establishment; equipment not approved by a recognized testing agency; non-food contact surfaces not easily cleanable; unnecessary or nonfunctional items and/or litter on premises; and mops dried improperly.

The following inspections were done Nov. 8.

Eastwood Middle School, 4800 Sugar Ridge Road, Pemberville, had one critical offense, which was improper storage of poisonous or toxic materials. It was corrected during inspection.

Days Inn/Super-8, 10667 Fremont Pike, Perrysburg, had one critical and two non-critical offenses.

Critical was temperature-controlled foods not being cold held at the proper temperature.

Non-critical were handwashing sink water below 100°F; and non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean.

Subway Sandwiches, 26597 Dixie Hwy., Perrysburg, had one critical and four non-critical offenses.

Critical was no air gap or approved backflow prevention device on the plumbing system.

Non-critical were facility does not have an employee with manager certification in food protection (repeat); plumbing system not properly maintained or repaired; facility not maintained clean (repeat); and light intensity less than 10 foot candles in required areas (repeat).

Pertoria Inc., DBA Wendy’s, 26630 Dixie Hwy., Perrysburg, had two non-critical offenses, which were no written procedures for time as a public health control; and inadequate equipment available for cooling, heating or holding food.

Blue Pacific Grill, 4150 Levis Commons Blvd., Perrysburg, had two critical and four non-critical violations.

Critical were handwashing sink is being used for purposes other than handwashing (repeat); and chlorine sanitizing solution at incorrect temperature and/or concentration (repeat, corrected during inspection).

Non-critical were in-use utensils improperly stored (repeat); non-food contact surfaces not easily cleanable; floors, walls, and/or ceilings not smooth and easily cleanable (repeat); and facility not maintained clean.

Biggby Coffee, 215 E. Wooster St., Bowling Green, had four non-critical offenses, which were in-use utensils improperly stored (corrected during inspection); food equipment and food contact items stored directly on the floor (repeat); cutting blocks or boards cannot be effectively cleaned and sanitized; and non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean (repeat).

Subway, 209 Bierley Ave., Pemberville, had three non-critical offenses, which were cutting blocks or boards cannot be effectively cleaned and sanitized (repeat); non-food contact surfaces not easily cleanable (repeat); and floors, walls, and/or ceilings not smooth and easily cleanable (repeat).

The following inspections were done Nov. 9.

During a follow-up inspection, Biggby Coffee, 26567 N. Dixie Hwy., Suite 133, Perrysburg, had one critical and eight non-critical violations.

Critical was employees are not informed in a verifiable manner of their responsibility to report information about their health.

Non-critical were facility does not have an employee with manager certification in food protection; fixed equipment not properly sealed or spaced for cleaning; non-durable equipment observed; cutting blocks or boards cannot be effectively cleaned and sanitized; non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean; plumbing system not properly maintained or repaired; facility not maintained clean; and light intensity less than 10 foot candles in required areas.

Conneaut Elementary, 542 Haskins Road, Bowling Green, had one non-critical offense, which was physical facilities not maintained in good repair (repeat).

Inside the Five Brewing, 127 W. Third St., Perrysburg, had one critical and three non-critical offenses.

Critical was temperature-controlled foods not being cold held at the proper temperature. It was corrected during inspection.

Non-critical were inadequate equipment available for cooling, heating or holding food (corrected during inspection); non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean (repeat); and facility not maintained clean (repeat).

During a follow-up inspection, Chick-fil-A Restaurant, 10315 Fremont Pike, Perrysburg, had one critical offense, which was non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean.

During a follow-up inspection, Tru by Hilton, 9735 Clark Drive, Rossford, had three non-critical offenses, which were facility does not have an employee with manager certification in food protection; improper storage of food items; and equipment not approved by a recognized testing agency.

Rosie’s Fine Foods Inc. DBA Rosaria’s, 135 W. Third St., Perrysburg, had three critical and one non-critical offenses.

Critical were handwashing sink is being used for purposes other than handwashing; temperature-controlled foods not being hot held at the proper temperature; and temperature-controlled foods not being cold held at the proper temperature. All were corrected during inspection.

Non-critical was equipment not approved by a recognized testing agency.

The following inspections were done Nov. 10.

Little Caesars Pizza, 1068 N. Main St., Bowling Green, had six non-critical violations, which were handwashing sink water below 100°F; non-foo contact surfaces not easily cleanable; non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean (repeat); plumbing system not properly maintained or repaired; facility not maintained clean (repeat); and physical facilities not maintained in good repair (repeat).

During a follow-up inspection, Te’Kela, 25481 N. Dixie Hwy., Perrysburg, had three non-critical offenses, which were clean equipment and utensils not stored in a self-draining position and covered or inverted; non-food contact surfaces not easily cleanable; and non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean.

Jets Pizza, 1216 N. Main St., Bowling Green, had one critical offense, which was equipment food-contact surfaces or utensils are unclean. It was corrected during inspection.

Mindful Table, 4155 Chappel Drive, Perrysburg, had one critical and two non-critical offenses.

Critical was temperature-controlled foods not being cold held at the proper temperature.

Non-critical were label on a food packaged in-house did not contain all required information; and non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean.

Zero violations were found at Denny’s Restaurant, 1122 Buck Road, Rossford; Eastwood High School, 4900 Sugar Ridge Road, Pemberville; Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shop, 215 E. Wooster St., Suite D, Bowling Green; Eastwood Elementary, 4700 Sugar Ridge Road, Pemberville; Bowling Green Senior High, 530 W. Poe Road; and Home 2 Suites by Hilton, 5995 Levis Commons Blvd., Perrysburg;
