BG police investigate suspected arson

The Bowling Green Police Division received a report of smoke in the wooded area near Kenwood Avenue on Monday at 12:47 p.m.

The incident, which is suspected to be arson, remains under investigation.

Church offers free drive-thru dinner

A free drive-thru community meal hosted by First Christian Church of Bowling Green, 875 Haskins Road, will be held Friday from 5-6 p.m.

This meal is offered to anyone who needs a meal. This month’s menu includes a sloppy Joe sandwich, vegetable, fruit cup and a cookie.

The food bag distribution will continue, thanks to the support of St. Thomas More University Parish and the BG Christian Food Pantry. The toiletries pantry will be available again this month thanks to First Presbyterian Church. Participants are also offered a variety of breads and pastries provided by the Bowling Green Christian Food Pantry. Volunteers from the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints provide event help including the distribution of the food bags and bread/pastries.

Participants need to remain in their car. Volunteers will take their order, hand deliver meal(s) and direct participants to the bread and pastries.

Shop, eat at holiday bazaar

PEMBERVILLE — Pemberville United Methodist Church, 205 Perry St/, is having the annual holiday bazaar on Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

The canned items (in pint or quart jars) are the famous snippled beans, crystal pickles, beets, corn relish, dill and bread/butter pickles. All food items we sell are in plastic or Styrofoam carryout containers. Ready-to-go soups are snippled bean, vegetable beef, chili and chicken paprikash. Sandwiches (with buns) are beef, chicken, sloppy Joes and smoked sausage. Individual portions of homemade desserts are available, as well as Christmas items, walker bags, pumpkin rolls, homemade bakery including homemade pies, buckeyes and candy.

BG closures in observance of Veterans Day

In observance of the Veterans Day holiday, all non-24-hour city facilities will be closed on Friday, except for the community center, which will have reduced hours of operation from 7 a.m.-noon.

Refuse and recycling will be collected as normal this week.
