Joseph (Joe) Samuel Rice, native of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away on June 27, 2020 surrounded by family after recently moving to the Phoenix, AZ area.

Joe entered this world on August 26, 1968 in Bowling Green, Ohio with a full head of hair, a strong voice, and a smile that lit up a room.

He is survived by his sons Adam (Nikki) of Bowling Green, OH, Aaron, and Aidan Rice of Glendale, AZ; his parents Jane and Ned Whitmer of Bowling Green, OH, his siblings Molly (David) Duhamel of Bowling Green, OH, Amanda (Sven) Finnis of Riva, MD, Jason Rice of Adrian, MI, and Lacie Rice of Tampa, FL; stepmother Linda Rice of Adrian, MI, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Tara (Whitmer) Roper and Jeff Whitmer, and his father Ken Rice as well as maternal and paternal grandparents.

While Joe had many interests, experiences, and accomplishments in life, what he was most proud of was his three sons Adam, Aaron, and Aidan. He loved them with his whole heart and took great pride in all of their accomplishments. The four of them shared many interests, but the two things that you could count on them doing when they were together in Northwest Ohio was eating at Rudy’s Hot Dog, going to Cedar Point to gain an adrenaline rush while riding the latest, fastest, highest roller coaster, and watching Ohio State football.

As the years went by Joe’s faith in God grew. He was in “his” pew at Dayspring Church worshipping on Sundays.

Family and friends will be received 6-7 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2022 with a celebration of life service following at 7 p.m. in the Family Life Center at Dayspring Church, 17360 N. Dixie Highway, Bowling Green, Ohio.

Joe’s remains will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia on Monday, November 7, 2022.
