BGSU tennis concludes ITA Midwest Regionals

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — At the ITA Midwest Regionals, senior Ioanna Tsadari was the lone competitor on Saturday, the final day for Bowling Green State University tennis, facing Northwestern’s Maria Shusharina in the singles main draw round of 32.

Tsadari fell to Shusharina, 6-0, 6-1. Shusharina and teammate Clarissa Hand are No. 58 in the national doubles rankings.

In singles, BGSU junior Hannah Neuman went 0-1, junior Lucy Furness went 2-1, senior Eloise Saraty went 1-1 and Tsadari went 1-1.

In doubles, Tsadari and Saraty went 1-1 and Neumann and Poppe went 0-1.

“It is great for our team to be up against this level of competition,” said coach Mike Bonnell.

“The fall is all about learning and getting better. Hopefully our team remembers these matches and it serves as motivation to work hard in the off-season. I’m really happy with what I saw this weekend.”

The Falcons continue the fall season next weekend at the Rocket Invite. Hosted by the University of Toledo, competition will be held on Oct. 28-29.
