Fostoria woman hurt in crash

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP – A Fostoria woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Seneca County.

The Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash which occurred on County Road 592 at County Road 31.

Dorothy Cooper, 68, Fostoria, was driving a 2018 Honda HRV eastbound. Amanda Benavides, 42, Burgoon, was driving a 2020 Jeep Cherokee southbound. Cooper failed to yield at the stop sign and. Benavides struck Cooper on the driver side. Benavides went off the southwest corner of the intersection, overturned and struck a house. Cooper went of the southwest corner of the intersection and overturned.

Cooper was transported from the scene by Life Flight to Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo with serious injuries. Benavides sustained serious injuries and was transported from the scene by Seneca EMS to Tiffin Mercy Hospital.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Alcohol and drugs are not considered factors in this crash.

Go on a pumpkin scavenger hunt

Bring a flashlight fand take a walk on the wild side in Wintergarden Nature Preserve to search for fun-themed pumpkins spread out around the designated trail (approximately 3/4 mile) on Friday.

After completing the trail, kids can pick up some treats. Feel free to dress up in Halloween costumes. Participants may drop in anytime between 5 and 8 p.m. with no trail departures after 8 p.m. After the event, the pumpkins will be available for display outside the nature center.

Herald holds 4th ward BG meeting

Bowling Green’s 4th Ward Council Member William Herald will hold his 51st Fourth Ward Quarterly meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Simpson Garden Building, 1291 Conneaut Ave.

The meeting will consist of a general update on various city matters. There will then be ample time for citizens to bring up issues, concerns, and questions. Refreshments will be provided.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Food distributed in Wayne

WAYNE — The monthly food distribution for the Wayne area will be held Thursday from 9-10 a.m. at the Wayne Fire Hall, 200 N. Center St. The food distribution is for those in the 43466 zip code.

Church dinner helps with holiday gifts

RISINGSUN — St. Paul United Methodist Church will host a community dinner on Oct. 25. Serving will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Pork loin, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, jello salad, desserts and drinks are on the menu. The public is invited to attend. A suggested donation of $5 will help with Christmas gifts for school children.

The church location is located at 126 Union St. .and is handicapped accessible.

Historic preservation committee meets

The City of Bowling Green Historic Preservation Commission will meet Oct. 25 at 4 p.m. in the City Administrative Services Building, third floor conference room, 304 N. Church St. For questions about the meeting or participation, call the planning department at 419-354-6218.

Learn about election process

The League of Women Voters of Bowling Green is sponsoring a presentation on elections on Oct. 25 from 7-8:30 pm, at the Wood County Senior Center, 140 S. Grove St.

Speakers Julie Baumgardner and Terry Burton, Directors of the Wood County Board of Elections, will offer an overview of the logistics and security of elections.

This is an in-person-only program. The public is invited to attend, no registration required.
