The Wood County Health Department visited eating establishments throughout the county from Sept. 22-28.

The following inspections were done Sept. 22.

Love’s Travel Stops, 13190 Deshler Road, North Baltimore, had two critical and two non-critical offenses.

Critical were refrigerated, ready-to-eat, temperature-controlled foods not properly date marked (repeat); and improper storage of poisonous or toxic materials (corrected during inspection).

Non-critical were equipment components are not intact, tight or properly adjusted (repeat); and non-food contact surface(s) not cleaned at the required frequency (repeat).

Great Scot, 13710 Deshler Road, North Baltimore, had two critical and six non-critical violations.

Critical were food not properly protected from contamination by separation, packaging, and segregation; and ready-to-eat, temperature-controlled food not properly discarded when required. Both were corrected during inspection.

Non-critical were working food containers not properly labeled; equipment components are not intact, tight or properly adjusted (repeat); no-food contact surfaces not easily cleanable (repeat); non-food contact surface(s) not cleaned at the required frequency (repeat); physical facilities not maintained in good repair; and floors, walls, and/or ceilings not smooth and easily cleanable (repeat).

Sundae Station, 1240 W. Wooster St. B, Bowling Green, had one non-critical offense, which was non-food contact surface(s) not cleaned at the required frequency.

Sunset Bistro, 1220 W. Wooster St. A, Bowling Green, had two critical offenses, which were improper reheating of food for hot holding; and improper cooling of temperature-controlled food. Both were corrected during inspection.

During a follow-up inspection, Kroger, 1094 N. Main St., Bowling Green, had two non-critical offenses, which were cutting blocks or boards cannot be effectively cleaned and sanitized; and physical facilities not maintained in good repair.

During a follow-up inspection, Brookdale-Bowling Green, 121 N. Wintergarden Road, had one non-critical offense, which was non-food contact surfaces not easily cleanable.

The following inspections were done Sept. 23.

Cinemark USA Inc., 2005 Hollenbeck Drive, Perrysburg, had three non-critical offenses, which were outer opening not protected; irreversible registering temperature indicator not readily accessible for hot water mechanical warewashing operations; and physical facilities not maintained in good repair.

Elmwood Athletic Boosters-Football Concessions, 7650 Jerry City Road, Bloomdale, had one non-critical offense, which was presence of dead pests or insects (a dead mouse was observed in a trap in the back room).

Fricker’s, 1720 E. Wooster St., Bowling Green, has one critical and five non-critical violations.

Critical was food employee(s) did not wash hands when required.

Non-critical were improper storage of cleaned equipment, utensils, and laundered linens; equipment components are not intact, tight or properly adjusted; non-food contact surface(s) not cleaned at the required frequency; physical facilities not maintained in good repair; and facility not maintained clean (repeat).

Penn Station Restaurant, 1616 E. Wooster St., Bowling Green, had two critical and two non-critical offenses.

Critical were handwashing sink is being used for purposes other than handwashing (corrected during inspection); and temperature-controlled foods not being cold held at the proper temperature.

Non-critical were food employee(s) not wearing a hair restraint (repeat); and cutting blocks or boards cannot be effectively cleaned and sanitized (repeat).

Big Daddy’s, 18421 Steen Road, Weston, had two critical offenses, which were food not properly protected from contamination by separation, packaging, and segregation; and temperature-controlled foods not being hot held at the proper temperature. Both were corrected during inspection.

McSwiggins Pub, 26611 N. Dixie Hwy., Suite 105, Perrysburg, had two critical and 12 non-critical violations.

Critical were equipment food-contact surfaces or utensils are unclean (repeat); and refrigerated, ready-to-eat, temperature-controlled foods not properly date marked (corrected during inspection).

Non-critical were facility does not have an employee with manager certification in food protection (repeat); no soap at handwashing sink(s); no towels or drying device at the handwashing sink(s); fixed equipment not properly sealed or spaced for cleaning (repeat); equipment not approved by a recognized testing agency (repeat); non-durable equipment observed; non-food contact surfaces not easily cleanable (repeat); non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean; cooking equipment or pan surfaces unclean; plumbing system does not comply with the Ohio plumbing code; physical facilities not maintained in good repair (repeat); and food service operation did not have a person in charge per shift with the person in charge certification in food protection (repeat).

During a follow-up inspection, Friendship Marathon Store, 3274 Defiance Pike, Wayne, had one non-critical offense, which was equipment components are not intact, tight or properly adjusted.

Avina Auction, 142 E. Strong Ave., Wayne, had two non-critical offenses, which were non-food contact surfaces not easily cleanable (repeat); and unnecessary or nonfunctional items and/or litter on premises (repeat).

Heritage Corner Health Care Campus, 1069 Klotz Road, Bowling Green, had one non-critical offense, which was non-food contact surfaces not easily cleanable.

The Waterford at Levis Commons, 7100 S Wilkinson Way, Perrysburg, had one critical and one non-critical offense.

Critical was temperature-controlled foods not being cold held at the proper temperature. It was corrected during inspection.

Non-critical was non-food contact surfaces not easily cleanable (repeat).

During a follow-up inspection, Bob Evans Restaurants LLC, 1726 E. Wooster St., Bowling Green, had two non-critical offenses, which were non-food contact surfaces not easily cleanable; and physical facilities not maintained in good repair

Benchmark Restaurant Group LLC, 6130 Levis Commons Blvd., Perrysburg, had two critical and two non-critical offenses.

Critical were temperature-controlled foods not being cold held at the proper temperature; and improper storage of poisonous or toxic materials. Both were corrected during inspection.

Non-critical were non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean; and dressing rooms or lockers not being properly used. Both were corrected during inspection.

During a follow-up inspection, 2523 Oregon LLC, 2523 Oregon Road, Northwood, had four non-critical offenses, which were equipment and utensils are not being air dried; no sanitizer test kit available; non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean; and physical facilities not maintained in good repair.

During a follow-up inspection, Wings Over Bowling Green, 215 E. Wooster St., 3, Bowling Green, had two non-critical offenses, which were facility not maintained clean; and physical facilities not maintained in good repair

During a follow-up inspection, Sam B’s, 146 N. Main St., Bowling Green, had three non-critical offenses, which were non-food contact surface(s) not cleaned at the required frequency; physical facilities not maintained in good repair; and food service operation did not submit facility layout and equipment specifications.

The following inspections were done Sept. 28.

Kermit’s Restaurant, 307 S. Main St., Bowling Green, had one critical and three non-critical offenses.

Critical was handwashing sink is being used for purposes other than handwashing. It was corrected during inspection.

Non-critical were non-food contact surfaces not easily cleanable; equipment components are not intact, tight or properly adjusted; and non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean.

Cocina de Carlos, 27072 Carronade Drive, Suite F, Perrysburg, had five critical and four non-critical violations.

Critical were equipment food-contact surfaces or utensils are unclean (repeat, corrected during inspection); temperature-controlled foods not being cold held at the proper temperature (corrected during inspection); working containers of poisonous or toxic materials not properly labeled (repeat, corrected during inspection); presence of live insects, rodents, and other pests (gnats observed in dry stock room and in bar); and water source and/or hot water capacity not sufficient.

Non-critical were improper method for cooling temperature-controlled foods (repeat); improper storage of single-service and single-use articles (corrected during inspection); non-food contact surfaces not easily cleanable (repeat); and cooking equipment or pan surfaces unclean.

During a follow-up inspection, Poco Perrysburg Inc., 3155 Chappel Drive, had eight non-critical violations, which were improper storage of food items; food employee(s) not wearing a hair restraint; cutting blocks or boards cannot be effectively cleaned and sanitized; no sanitizer test kit available; cooking equipment or pan surfaces unclean; floor and wall junctures not properly coved or closed and/or floor drains not provided; physical facilities not maintained in good repair; and facility not maintained clean.

During a follow-up inspection, Bowling Green Senior High, 530 W. Poe Road, had one non-critical offense, which was inadequate equipment available for cooling, heating or holding food.

During a follow-up inspection, McSwiggins Pub, 26611 N. Bowling Green Road, Bradner; Penta Career Center (MME), 9301 Buck Road, Perrysburg; Denny’s Restaurant, 1122 Buck Road, Rossford; Denny’s Flying J, 26415 Warns Road, Perrysburg; and Bowling Green Manor, 1021 W. Poe Road.
