Eastwood clinches NBC title share

PEMBERVILLE — Eastwood earned a Northern Buckeye Conference title share after routing visiting Fostoria, 63-7, Friday at Jerry Rutherford Stadium.

An Eastwood win over Otsego next week will secure an outright championship for the Eagles.

The Eagles remain unbeaten at 9-0, including 6-0 in the NBC, while Fostoria is 1-8 and 1-5.

Eastwood had 496 total yards and held the Redmen to 223. Bryce DeFalco led the Eagles’ ground game, running for 194 yards on seven carries.

DeFalco scored on runs of 60, 25, and 51 yards, Bryce Hesselbart scored on runs of 3 and 31 yards, and Case Boos scored on runs of 3 and 45 yards.

Kevin Lewis scored on an 18-yard run and Wyatt Oestrich scored on a 24-yard run for the Eagles. Boos also threw a 45-yard TD pass to Dayquan Oliver — the only pass Boos threw.

Fostoria scored on a 60-yard pass from Gavin Miller to Brayden Harrison.

For Eastwood, Lewis ran for 70 yards on six carries, Boos ran for 53 yards on five carries, Isaac Reynolds had 36 yards on six carries and Hesselbart had 34 yards on two carries.

Logan Perry had one carry for 21 yards, Blake Hitchcock had one carry for 16 yards and Brock Messinger had five carries for 15 yards for Eastwood.

Kadyn Donnell threw a six-yard pass to Jackson Bauer for the Eagles.

Defensively for Eastwood, Isaac Reynolds had three tackles and four assists, Bryce Hesselbart had three tackles and three assists, and Andrew Badenhop had two tackles and four assists.

Badenhop and Dalton Hesselbart had one sack apiece and Caleb Souder, Reynolds and Messinger had one interception each for the Eastwood defense.

For Fostoria, Miller completed 19-of-30 passes for 175 yards, including three to Harrison for 89 yards, four to Jordan Ferguson for 42 yards, six to Aidan Sprang for 28 yards, and five to Machi Johnson for 18 yards.

Camron Pettaway led the Redmens’ ground game with 22 yards on five carries, Kiesin Cramer had 21 yards on 12 carries, and Miller ran for five yards on five carries.
