Dairy damage needs to be monitored

0

To the Editor:

What happened in September with the dairy farm and 3,000 mature cows caused indelible damage (Dairy traffic damages roads, Oct. 6, Sentinel-Tribune). The diary damaged roads in Portage and Montgomery townships. The county highway garage also had to assist the townships. Elmwood school buses were rerouted because the roads were blocked. The was without any prior warning from dairy.

Liquid manure, which contained phosphorus and nitrogen — key elements in the growth for algae in Lake Erie — was applied.

Who’s monitoring this process?
