A Bowling Green woman was taken to a Toledo hospital after stabbing herself.

On Thursday around 1:45 p.m., Bowling Green police responded to the 1000 block of Fairview Avenue on a report of a woman with a knife.

When police arrived at the scene, a woman came out the door. When asked about the knife, she stated “he had a baseball bat,” so she grabbed a knife, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

While speaking with the woman, a man came downstairs and told police they she had slapped him.

He told police that he pushed her away and when he grabbed a liquor bottle to take a drink, she grabbed at him. He pushed her away again and she grabbed a knife and lunged at him. She then started to stab herself in the chest, according to the report.

The man had bloody marks on his face but stated he did not want to press charges.

The woman admitted to stabbing herself out of anger and she was transported to a Toledo hospital.
