Cowan leads Bobcats’ sweep over Irish

Madison Cowan had 11 kills as Bowling Green volleyball swept Central Catholic Monday, 25-22, 25-8, 25-12 on the Bobcats’ floor.

Francesca Meek had one kill, one assist, one ace and 15 digs and Cowan had one assist, three aces and two digs.

Also, for BG, Brooke Lavey had two kills, one solo block, one block assist and one dig and Abigail Slembarski had 23 assists, two aces and three digs.

Royals ninth at Moose Landing

OTTAWA — Elmwood shot 384 to finish ninth on Thursday in Division II boys sectional golf at Moose Landing Country Club. Elmwood junior Tommy Tyson shot 49-42—91 to lead the Royals.

Other Elmwood golfers were sophomore Landon Snow (49-46—95), junior Kameron Kingery (46-51—97), junior Owen Simmons (51-50—101) and junior Kade Lentz (52-59—111).

Napoleon won the team championship with a 338 score, followed by Van Buren (338), Liberty-Benton (348), Coldwater (357), Van Wert (363), St. Marys (364), Ottawa-Glandorf (365), Tinora (368) and Elmwood.

Rounding out team scores were Lima Bath (384), Bluffton (397), Spencerville (407), Paulding (411) and Kenton (424).

Tigers fourth at Sycamore Springs

ARLINGTON — In the Division III sectional golf tournament at Sycamore Springs Golf CourseThursday, the North Baltimore boys finished one spot out of qualifying for the district tournament.

Carey (366) won the sectional, followed by Allen East (368), Arcadia (383) and NB (396).

For the Tigers, junior Don Courtney shot 48-44—92, junior Josh Fennell shot 51-47—98, freshman Cooper Clark shot 53-49—102, junior Wyatt Baltz shot 51-53—104 and junior Owen Clark shot 50-56—106.

Rounding out team scores were Waynesfield-Goshen (399), New Riegel (400, Riverdale (410), Ridgemont (438), Arlington (487) and Ada (526).
