Stephen Patrick Williams, 79, of Perrysburg, OH, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 in his home; with the love of his life at his side.

He was born on August 1, 1943, in Ashland, Ohio, to Bill and Ione (Patrick) Williams, who proceeded him in death; as did his sister Kay (Stan) Reed.

Steve is survived by his loving wife Carol (Witzler), of nearly 54 years.

Steve loved, and was loved by, his family, friends and community. He was a caring son and brother, a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather.

Steve embodied the spirit of a true servant. He spent five years traveling the world, in service to our country, as a United States Marine. Then Steve joined the State Highway Patrol, where he continued to serve the people of Ohio. He spent 20+ years in sales for Stewart Foods, while he raised his family, coached soccer, volunteered in the community, and pursued hobbies.

After 9/11, Steve traveled the country with TSA to convert airports based on new security protocols. From TSA, he joined the Ohio Department of Corrections as a corrections officer; and completed additional training to provide grief counseling and help with hostage negotiation. After retiring from the prison system, Steve went to work for Artistic Memorials, where he helped grieving families make final arrangements for their loved ones.

Steve spent much of his life in service to others – helping them through their darkest times. His heart was as big and warm as the hugs he was so well known for.

Steve was a devout member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dowling, OH, where he served on Church Council, volunteered for events, participated in committees, taught Sunday School and supported his wife as she did the same.

Steve loved his family very much. He is survived by his children, Melissa (John) Snyder of Naples, FL and Kelley (John) Haynes of South Lyon, MI; grandchildren Josh Snyder (Hawaii), Brody Craft (Naples, FL) and Ace Haynes of South Lyon; sister Lynn Jones of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
