TIFFIN — Perrysburg High School students Niranjan Bhagwat, Raquel Burden, Ricky Gardiner and Patrick Martz will perform when the touring show “Beatles vs. Stones – A Musical Showdown” returns to the Ritz Theatre on Wednesday.

The British Invasion had the two most popular rock groups of all time, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, as well as the liveliest debate in rock history – which band is the greatest?

These two legendary bands will engage in an on-stage, mash-up duel featuring internationally renowned tribute bands, Abbey Road and Satisfaction – The International Rolling Stones Show.

The local string quartet will join professional musicians on stage. The string quartet will perform six songs with the bands, including “Eleanor Rigby,” “A Day in the Life,” “Hello Goodbye,” “Hey Jude,” “Gimme Shelter” and “Ruby Tuesday.”

Perrysburg High School orchestra Director Michael Smith said the producers of “Beatles vs. Stones” approached him inquiring about a talented ensemble of students that could hold their own with a rock band.

“The show commonly reaches out to local high school orchestras, making donations to their school music programs in exchange for student participation,” Smith said. “We are very excited to showcase our musical talent on a large scale stage for all to enjoy. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the string musicians.”

The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Ritz Theatre. Tickets are $30-$60 and may be purchased by phone at 419-448-8544, at the box office or online at www.ritztheatre.org.

The Ritz Theatre is located at 30 S. Washington St. The show is appropriate for all ages.
