Kiwanis Club hears about Simpson park

The Simpson Garden Park, one of Bowling Green’s distinctive community attractions, will be the topic of the week’s Kiwanis meeting.

Kiwanians Dick Edwards, who co-chaired the Simpson Garden Park fund-raising campaign with his wife, Nadine, and longtime Simpson Garden Park volunteer, Charles Harper, will be the program presenters.

The program’s title is “Simpson Garden Park: An Amazing 20-Year History” will be a retrospective featuring Harper’s photographs.

Following several years of preliminary planning, the park’s campaign, A Different Shade of Green, was formally launched in 2005 and exceeded its $700,000 goal. The first garden to be dedicated was the Children’s Discovery Garden in 2008 and the last were the Healing and Peace Gardens in 2010.
