Falcons earn doubles point in first home MAC match

PERRYSBURG – The Bowling Green State University tennis team dropped their first home conference match of the season, falling to Eastern Michigan by a score of 4-3 this weekend.

BGSU started strong by taking the doubles point, with Selina Karg and Hannah Neuman winning at No. 1 and Maru Poppe and Annika Vetter winning at No. 3. Karg and Neuman were the first pair to finish, taking a convincing 6-1 victory. Poppe and Vetter were the final duo to finish, building a 3-0 lead and maintaining it for a 6-4 win.

The first four singles matches to finish favored the Eagles, giving the guests a road win. Annika Vetter battled to a three-set victory at No. 3, her fourth win of the spring. In the No. 1 spot, Selina Karg and Luisa Pelayo battled for over two hours, splitting the first two sets. Karg earned the third set victory, battling back from a 4-5 deficit to win, 7-6. The triumph was her ninth of the spring, the most on the team.
