A nationally-recognized author and family relationship expert will be speaking at both Father’s Day
morning services Sunday at Dayspring Church , 17360 N. Dixie Highway, Bowling Green.
Ron Tijerina, co-executive director of The RIDGE Project, will speak at the 9 and 11a.m. services.
Tijerina is known for his passionate advocacy of strong families and has taken his message to the White
House as well as venues across the country.
In 1991, he was convicted of a crime he didn’t commit and sentenced to 14-25 years in prison. Tijerina
used this unimaginable tragedy as a springboard for a life spent seeing more in others than they see in
themselves.
While incarcerated with some of the toughest felons in Ohio, he discovered some of the root causes of
generational cycles of poverty, low expectations, and incarceration. He became determined to do
something about it and together with his wife, Catherine, created a program, TYRO Dads, to help
strengthen families.
Tijerina will discuss the elements of fatherhood. The author says, "I am committed to helping people
understand that there is never a time to quit – no family is disposable."
