The Wood County Committee on Aging (WCCOA) invites older adults in Wood County to submit their creative,
original poems for the seventh annual poetry contest, with the theme "Life’s Moments."
The contest was designed to showcase the talents of Wood County seniors through acknowledgement and
publications of their poems.
The poems will be placed on the WCCOA blog (woodcountycommitteeonaging.blogspot.com) for the world to
see. Voting for the winning poem will take place at all senior center sites in the county and via the
blog site.
A video of the winning poem will be placed on the WCCOA website and Facebook page.
The first and second prize winners will receive gift cards of $50 and $25, respectively.
Entry rules are listed below:
The contest is open to Wood County residents age 50 and over.
The final date to submit poetry is March 21.
Entries must be in English, double spaced, in a 12 point Times New Roman font or hand written. Entries
must be entirely your own work and never previously published, online or offline. Two entries per person
is the limit. Poems are to be one page and based on the 2014 theme, "Life’s Moments." All
