Reds pitcher Alfredo Simon wants accuser IDed

WASHINGTON (AP) — A lawyer for Cincinnati Reds pitcher Alfredo Simon says a woman who accused the player
in a lawsuit of sexually assaulting her should have to reveal her name publicly.

Simon’s lawyer made his argument Tuesday in federal court in Washington. The woman has said in a court
document that she worries Simon’s fans may harass her or hurt her if her name becomes public.

The woman is currently identified in court filings as Jane Doe, though Simon and his attorneys know her
name and can use it to investigate the case. Simon’s lawyers want her to have to re-file the case
without a pseudonym.

The woman’s $15 million lawsuit claims she met the Simon at a Washington nightclub in 2013 and went with
him to a hotel, where he forced sex on her.
