Prep Roundup: Perrysburg girls cruise past Start (02-04-14

Perrysburg’s girls basketball team, ranked seventh in Division I, cruised to a 66-40 nonleague win over
Toledo Start, Monday night.
In other girls games it was: Springfield 51, Bowling Green 43; Genoa 73, Eastwood 43; Lake 63, Woodmore
40; Elmwood 58, Gibsonburg 34; Toledo Woodward 50, Otsego 44; and Old Fort 49, Northwood 42.
BASKETBALL
GIRLS
Perrysburg 66, Start 40
In Toledo, Sarah Baer scored 20 points as Perrysburg improved to 15-2 overall.
Allex Brown added 15 points.
Perrysburg, which had eight different players score, held a 39-16 halftime lead.
Springfield 51, BGHS 43
In Holland, Bowling Green was out-scored 23-16 in the second half after trailing by just one at halftime
of the Northern Lakes League makeup game.
Hannah Williford led the Bobcats with 15 points, while Tyanna Smith added 12.
BG is 9-10 overall and 4-8 in the NLL.
Genoa 73, Eastwood 43
In Luckey, Genoa out-scored Eastwood 20-5 in the third quarter of a Northern Buckeye Conference game.
Reagan Boice led the Eagles (2-15, 1-11) with 13 points, while Mackenzie Albright and Aubrey Peters added
12 and 10 points, respectively.
Lake 63, Woodmore 40
In Elmore, Jordyn Taylor scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Lake improved to 8-9 overall and 5-5
in the NBC.
Lake’s Sarah Dabney added 13 points and Chloe Huston had 10.
The Flyers held a 34-15 lead at halftime.
Elmwood 58, Gibsonburg 34
In Jerry City, Elmwood trailed 10-6 after the first quarter but out-scored Gibsonburg 52-24 the rest of
the way in a nonleague matchup.
Kristen Curtis led the Royals (12-5) with 19 points.
Woodward 50, Otsego 44
In Tontogany, Otsego was just 3-of-12 from the free-throw line in a nonleague loss to Woodward.
Abby Hesselschwardt led the Knights (8-9) with 16 points.
Old Fort 49, Northwood 42
In Northwood, Allison Roach scored 15 points in Northwood’s nonleague loss.
Lissy Wojcinski added 12 points for the Rangers (3-14).

EIGHTH GRADE BOYS
Eastwood beat Otsego, 47-32. Leaders for the Eagles were Grant Hirzel, Zach Henline and Cade Boos.
Lake defeated Rossford, 42-38. Dylan O’Quinn and Blake Osborn led the Flyers with 15 and 12 points,
respectively.
SEVENTH GRADE BOYS
Lake beat Rossford, 36-30. Jase Bowen led the Flyers with 12 points, while Luke Walsh added 11.
WRESTLING
Bowling Green finished sixth in the Northern Lakes League tournament,
Nick Jackson and Hunter Reimer finished second for BG, Gus Eschedor and Jacob Brockway were third, and
Patrick Campos was fourth. Jackson finished 18-1 with 12 pints.
