Perrysburg hires new director of public service

PERRYSBURG – Robert Ross is joining the city as director of public service.
Ross brings over 30 years of experience in management, operations, customer service, and employee
development. In his new role he will have a salary of $95,500.
“The City of Perrysburg welcomes Rob to the division of public service. His years of experience in
operations and management make him an ideal candidate for the director of public service,” Mayor Tom
Mackin said.
For the past six years, he has been overseeing the daily operations of the grounds/maintenance and
custodial services for the Perrysburg school district as the maintenance director. In that role he
management responsibilities covering more than 50 employees. The position required the creation of
five-year permanent improvement plans, as well as serving on various committees.
Prior to this, he was vice president of operations for a building services company. He was also regional
director at the American Golf Corporation, for which he worked 19 years.
As director of public service, Ross will be responsible for supervising the operations of the division of
public service, which includes engineering, streets, parks, municipal buildings, sanitation and summer
recreation programs.
Ross will supervise personnel, recommend capital improvement projects and programs, and prepare various
public service department budgets, among many other duties and responsibilities. Ross will be working
closely with current director of public service, Jon Eckel, as he transitions into his new role. Eckel
has been appointed from this position to become assistant to the city administrator.
Perrysburg Council ratified Mackin’s recommendation for the appointment of Ross at Tuesday’s council
meeting.
