Lillian (Cajka) Pollock, age 89, passed away peacefully on November 25, at Grand Rapids Care Center.
She was born on July 9, 1925, to Paul and Mary (Konecny) Cajka. She was raised in Lake Township and
graduated from Lake High School in 1943.
In her youth, she was involved in a Czech dancing club through the Catholic Workman’s Association. She
married Merlin Pollock on April 14, 1951.
She worked at LaSalle’s in Toledo and as a secretary for Owens Illinois until they started a family in
rural Waterville.
She was a devoted wife and mother of their three children. Family was very important to her and she
hosted many family gatherings. She also spent a lot of time cooking, traveling, and working in the
garden and flower beds. She and Merlin enjoyed polka music and traveled to many festivals and dances
both locally and throughout the Midwest. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Providence Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: son Robert (Tammy) Pollock, daughter-in-law Denise Pollock,
daughter Susan (Keith) Hannewald, all of Waterville, her grandsons Brad (Erin) Pollock, Dayton, Chad
Pollock (Lindsey Barts), Dayton, Michael, John, and Matthew Hannewald, Waterville, and her three great
grandchildren; Emma, Jamison, and Jaxon Pollock, her sister, Mary Rattigan, Monclova, sister-in-laws
Jane Cajka and Roberta Cajka, Luckey, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years, son Jerry Pollock, and brothers Joseph
and Frank Cajka.
Visitation will be Friday, November 28, 2014, from 3-8 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 7220 Dutch Rd.,
Waterville, OH. A Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Parish, Grand Rapids, OH.
Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Waterville, OH.
The family suggests giving memorial contributions to St. Patrick’s Church, St. Jude’s Children’s Research
Hospital, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
