DETROIT (AP) — John Williams led the Detroit Symphony Orchestra through a few songs familiar to him and
them.
And pretty much everybody.
The award-winning composer of movie scores conducted the DSO during a two-hour rehearsal session on
Friday at Orchestra Hall.
On Saturday, Williams and the DSO will play in front of a packed house at a concert that will benefit the
orchestra.
Williams
will conduct the Detroit ensemble as it performs selections from some
of his most popular scores, including "Harry Potter," ”Indiana Jones,"
”Schindler’s List" and more.
Director Steven Spielberg will join
Williams to host the second half of the evening. He’ll present
selections from his decades-long artistic collaboration with Williams.
Spielberg wasn’t on hand for Friday’s rehearsal.
