On Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, Pope Francis appointed Thomas to lead the Catholic Diocese of Toledo as its
new Bishop. He replaces Bishop Leonard Paul Blair who was named bishop of the Hartford Archdiocese in
Connecticut last October.
