Dino Babers is bringing assistant coaches to Bowling Green with whom he feels comfortable with for the
2014 season.
Babers, hired last month to replace Dave Clawson the Falcons’ head coach for the last five years, has
retained secondary coach Nick Monroe from the previous Bowling Green staff.
The remainder of the staff announced Monday afternoon was with Babers at Eastern Illinois.
Babers has one assistant coaching opening to fill after Larry McDaniel left last week to join the staff
at Indiana.
Sterlin Gilbert, quarterbacks, and Matt Mattox, offensive line, are the co-offensive coordinators.
Gilbert spent two seasons as offensive coordinator at EIU. Mattox, who played for Art Briles at Houston,
was the offensive line coach at EIU a season ago.
Kim McCloud is the defensive coordinator, after serving in the same position at EIU under Babers the past
two seasons.
Tom Kaufman, linebackers, will serve as special teams coordinator for the Falcons.
Mike Lynch, running backs, Sean Lewis, inside receivers, and Tom Freeman, defensive line, will also join
Babers’ staff. All three were assistant coaches at EIU last season.
Sean Edinger, director of strength and conditioning, and Roy Wittke, director of football operations,
will be members of the support staff at Bowling Green. Both of them served in the same capacity at EIU.
