James "Jim" Schall

James "Jim" Schall, Sr., 54, of Bowling Green passed away Thursday November 6, 2014 with his
family by his side.
Jim was born in Bowling Green to the late Colburn and Levona (Euler) Schall. He married the love of his
life Joy Featzka on March 10, 1978 at Plain Congregational Church and she survives in Bowling Green.
Also surviving are his children: James (Lauren) Schall of Bowling Green; Jonna (John) Raezer of Bryn
Mawr, Pennsylvania and Jalana Schall of York Pennsylvania; grandchildren: Amanda, Jack and Reed; his
brother Craig Schall of Bowling Green and his beloved canine companions Eli and Isiah. He was also
preceded in death by his brother Terry and sister Karen.
Jim spent 27 years working for the Food Town Corporation. He then changed careers to pursue his passion
for teaching Physics and Astronomy where he was currently a teacher at Springfield High School. Jim
received his Masters in Physics from Bowling Green State University. He received teacher of year
numerous times. Jim also received the “I Make A Difference Award” five times during his time at
Springfield High School. He was an encouraging coach to the Science Olympiad team. Jim was a devoted
husband, father and Pop-Pop and treasured his time spent with his family. Jim enjoyed fishing on Lake
Erie and cheering on the Cleveland Browns. Jim will be a man remembered for his loyalty, humor,
knowledge, and the ability to inspire others.
Visitation for Jim will be on Sunday November 9, 2014 from 1:00-5:00 PM in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME
& CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster St., P.O Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Jim’s Funeral Service
will be held on Monday November 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM In the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME REMEMBRANCE
CHAPEL, 1460 W. Wooster St., P.O Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Interment will follow in the
Portage Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be gifted in Jim’s honor to a memorial scholarship for
students going into the science field at Springfield High School.
