Free energy camp offered
Efficiency Smart will host a free “Super Energy Heroes Summer Camp July 21-25 at Simpson Garden Park,
1291 Conneaut Ave., for students entering grades four through six.
The day camp is designed to help students develop an understanding of energy, its impact on our lives and
the environment, and how to use energy wisely while having fun. Through exploratory, hands-on science
projects and activities, campers will learn about the environmental and economic impacts of energy.
Students who attend the summer camp will explore renewable energy models using K-Nex to build a wind
turbine, solar car, water powered mill and a solar powered crank man.

Kids will also conduct a home energy audit and make energy on an energy bike to power light bulbs and
appliances.
Novel Chit Chats to discuss graphic novel, ‘Sidekicks’
The monthly adult/youth book discussion group, Novel Chit Chats, will have its next meeting on Monday at
7 p.m. in the Children’s Place of the Wood County District Public Library.
Multiple copies of Dan Santat’s graphic novel, “Sidekicks,” are available for checkout from the
Children’s Place desk. “Sidekicks” is a children’s graphic novel about Captain Amazing and his super
hero pets. It is told with plenty of “kapow,” “zap” and “wham” action to coincide with the summer
reading program, Fizz, Boom, Read.
Join Schooner Farms for some “fizzy, fuzzy, buzzy, and busy bee business” on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the
Children’s Place. This is another summer reading program.

History’s star of Liberty Camp
PERRYSBURG — The Northwest Ohio Conservative Coalition will hold its third annual Summer Liberty Camp for
kids ages 10-13 on July 7-11 at the 577 Foundation, 577 E. Front St., from 9 a.m. to noon each day.
The theme is “Presidents of Liberty.” Children will have hands-on games and activities, crafts, music and
history lessons.
The camp is organized and run by experienced teachers who have a love for history and feel a mission for
children to know more about the history of the country.
The registration fee is $25 for the week. Enrollment is limited to 25 children.
