A Toledo woman was sentenced to five years in prison on a charge of attempted rape.
Doreen J. Papenfuse, 56, was sentenced in the courtroom of Judge Reeve Kelsey Monday.
Papenfuse had initially been indicted on a single count of rape stemming from a Sept. 24, 2013, incident.

The indictment indicated that Papenfuse "did engage in sexual conduct" with a then-38-year-old
woman and "purposely compelled her to submit by force or threat of force."
The charge was amended to attempted rape, a second-degree felony, as part of a plea agreement, and
Papenfuse pleaded guilty to the new charge in April.
Papenfuse is to receive credit for time already served in the Wood County jail.
Papenfuse was reportedly involved in a traffic crash on Route 6 near Ohio 199 just days after the
indicted incident was to have occurred in 2013. Authorities determined she had driven into the path of a
semi tractor-trailer in a suicide attempt. She sustained non-life threatening injuries in the incident.
