To the Editor: BG councilman thanks citizens at Ridge forum

0

A heartfelt thank you to all First Ward residents and citizens of Bowling Green who braved the cold to
attend the Parks and Recreation Department’s public forum on the upcoming Ridge Park. There was a great
turnout. Those in attendance voiced many good ideas about what kinds of amenities they desired for the
park, and how families would be able to use the park for generations to come. Such participatory
engagement is government at its finest – citizens coming together to discuss the future of their
community. Thanks also to Director Michelle Grigore and Natural Resource Coordinator Chris Gajewicz for
their presentation on the site’s history.
With unanimous approval by City Council and extensive input from area residents, this ongoing project
demonstrates to me what is achievable when we work together in common cause. Such collaboration may not
happen in Washington, D.C., as much as we would like, but it does happen here. As Dr. Grigore mentioned
at the forum, "Bowling Green finds a way to get things done." Let’s continue to make Ridge
Park a reality for all to enjoy.
Daniel Gordon
First Ward City Councilman
