Three people were charged following a fight involving both a knife and a gun at a South Main Street
apartment Wednesday night.
Bowling Green Police Chief Brad Conner said officers were called to the apartment, in the 100 block of
South Main Street, on the report of an assault at 11:10 p.m.
Conner indicated the incident began as dispute between two roommates, Anthony Foos, 21, and Bryan Smith,
26, because relatives of Smith’s had come in from Arkansas and begun staying at the apartment several
days ago while Foos was out of town.
The dispute escalated, and Foos and Smith tussled. Smith reportedly pulled a knife in the incident in an
effort to move Foos off of him in the struggle; Smith’s father, Patrick Hatfield, 49, of Arkansas,
reportedly pulled out a Smith & Wesson handgun.
Smith sustained a nosebleed in the incident but refused treatment.
Hatfield was arrested on a charge of aggravated menacing and was taken to the Wood County jail. He was
listed there this morning with a bond of $10,000. Smith was arrested on a charge of felonious assault
and also taken to jail, where he was being held this morning without bail.
Both Hatfield and Smith are to appear in court today.
Foos was charged with assault, cited and released.
