HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – Bowling Green State University’s swimming team posted its fourth straight win,
beating Marshall 164-94 Saturday afternoon.
It is BG’s longest winning streak in 12 years as the Falcons improved to 5-3 in dual meets.
BG won nine of the 14 races with Maya Skorupski claiming two individual first-place finishes.
BG’s winners were: Skorupski, Daniela Carrillo, Joelle Scheps and Brittany Szekely in the 200 medley
relay in 1:46.98; Hannah Newman in the 200 freestyle in 1:53.58; Skorupski in the 100 backstroke in
58.56; Kristin Filby in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.12; Victoria Griffin in the 50 freestyle in 23.82;
Szekely in the 100 freestyle in 51.76; Skorupski in the 200 backstroke in 2:07.57; Carmen Young in the
200 breaststroke in 2:24.96; and Szekely, Emily Waller, Sadie Ahlers and Griffin in the 200 freestyle
relay in 1:36.15.
Owens women lose
to Columbus State
COLUMBUS – Owens Community College’s women’s basketball team fell 73-67 to Columbus State, Saturday.
The loss snapped the sixth-ranked Express’ 18-game win streak.
Owens held a 38-28 lead at halftime, but the Cougars closed the game on a 12-2 run.
Kamilah Carter led the Express, 18-2 overall and 4-1 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference,
with 23 points.
Owens men’s basketball wins
COLUMBUS – Owens Community College’s Bikramjit Gill scored 12 points and grabbed 21 rebounds in an 82-76
win over Columbus State, Saturday.
The No. 15 Express used a 14-1 run to close the game, improving to 18-4 overall and 5-0 in the OCCAC.
