George homers twice in Owens softball loss
LANSING, Mich. – Elmwood High School graduate Brittany George hit two home runs Wednesday in Owens
Community College’s 12-9 loss to Lansing CC in the Region XII District G softball tournament.
George finished 3-for-4 to raise her average to .557 with 10 homers.
Owens, 26-8 overall and ranked 17th nationally, must win three games today to advance to Friday’s
BG men’s cross country honored for academics
Bowling Green’s men’s cross country team had a perfect Academic Progress Rate score of 1,000.
The APR measures a team’s success academically each semester by tracking the progress of each athlete on
scholarship. The APR uses eligibility, retention and graduation.
BG’s women’s tennis and golf teams also were recognized for the APR scores.
A total of 1,049 Division I teams were recognized for their APR scores. Teams were recognized for scoring
in the top 10 percent of the teams in their sport.
The most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-2012 and
2012-13 academic years.
BG volleyball league forming
The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department is accepting team registration for Adult Sand
Volleyball Leagues.
League play for Women’s 6s will be on Tuesday nights, Coed 6s will be on Wednesday nights and Coed 4s
will be on Thursday nights beginning the week of June 2.
Teams will receive at least 10 games of regular-season play plus a double elimination tournament.
Games are played at Carter Park. League fees are $155 per team. Non-residents of the BG must pay a $35
The registration deadline is May 19.

Robinson inducted into hall of fame
COLUMBUS – Perrysburg resident and former Lake boys basketball coach Jim Robinson recently was inducted
into the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association.
Robinson, who coached for 39 years, finished his career with 531 wins.
