ROSSFORD — With just four league games remaining and perched on top of the Northern Buckeye Conference
standings, Rossford’s boys basketball team knows every game counts.
And on Friday, despite playing a team that is winless in the NBC, the Bulldogs played like it counted.

Rossford dominated Fostoria 73-18 to improve to 9-1 in the league and 12-5 overall. Rossford is tied for
first place in the NBC with Lake, also 9-1. The two teams will play Tuesday at Lake.
“We tell the kids we have everything to lose. Everything we have worked for the last two years is at
stake every time we step out on the floor,” said Rossford coach Brian Vorst.
Rossford opened the game on a 22-2 run. The dominance continued as the lead ballooned to a 34-4 midway
through the second quarter. It grew to 49-9 with 5:07 left in the third quarter.
“We never let up,” Vorst said. “We played hard almost the whole game. We had a little letdown in the
second quarter.”
The Bulldogs held Fostoria to just nine first-half points and to zero points in the third quarter.
Derek Mack had a game-high 16 points. Teammates Brian Burks and Mack Miller added 11 and 10 points,
respectively.
“Our kids came out and played hard. We played very unselfishly,” Vorst said.
While the shots fell easily for Rossford, the Bulldogs exercised patience on the offense end and didn’t
hesitate to share the ball.
Rossford shot 74 percent from the field in the first half and held Fostoria to 18 percent shooting.
The Bulldogs also dominated the rebounding, 45-15. Burks had a game-high eight rebounds.
For Rossford, 13 players saw action as the team’s starters sat the bench the entire fourth quarter and
much of the third quarter.
Jayden Stanton had eight points for the Redmen (2-14, 0-10).
Rossford won the junior varsity game, 48-33. Nick Stowers had 18 points for Rossford and Ethan
Little-Deer had 13.
