Prep Roundup: Perrysburg remains tied for NLL lead (05-21-14)

Perrysburg’s baseball team remained in contention for a Northern Lakes League title with a 6-3 win over
Springfield Tuesday at Fifth Third Field.
The Yellow Jackets scored five times over the first two innings to improve to 18-7 overall and 9-3 in the
NLL. Perrysburg and Anthony Wayne share the league lead at 9-3.
Mark Delas was 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Zach Honsberger was 2-for-4 with a double, triple and two runs
scored.
The top seven batters in the Jackets’ lineup had all nine hits for Perrysburg.
Pitcher AJ Stockwell allowed three runs, all in the fifth inning, on six hits in six innings before Delas
pitched a perfect seventh for the save.
Elmwood 13, Fostoria 6
In Jerry City, Elmwood struck for 10 runs in the first two innings, leading it to a NBC win.
The Royals pounded out 18 hits, while pitcher Brandon Pennington recorded 11 strikeouts.
Elmwood’s Dylan Hall was 4-for-5 with a double and two RBI, while Brett Jones was 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Jacob Wise, Nolan Kerr, Jacob Firsdon and Tayte Lentz each added two hits for the Royals, 12-12 overall
and 5-6 in the NBC.
Chris Hampton and Trey Yates each had two hits for Fostoria (14-11, 3-7).

At Fremont Ross, Lakota took advantage of six Sandusky St. Mary errors en route to a district semifinal
win.
Sam Miller led the Raiders in a 3-for-3 effort, while Morgan Gangwer and Destiny Long-Meyer each had two
hits and two RBI.
Gangwer also earned the win on the mound for Lakota, allowing just two hits in six innings of work.
The Raiders face Tiffin Calvert for the sectional title Friday at 5 p.m.
REGULAR SEASON
Elmwood 11, Fostoria 0,

In Jerry City, Miranda Benschoter pitched a one-hitter as Elmwood improved to 20-3 overall.
Benschoter was also 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and six RBI.
The Royals were aided by a 10-run third inning.
Elmwood is tied with Eastwood for the NBC lead at 10-1.
Rossford, 9, Otsego 0
In Tontogany, Mandi Longeway pitched a six-hitter as Rossford improved to 19-7, 9-4.
Longeway also was 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Rossford’s other leading hitters were: Kirsten Keller, 3-for-4; Margo Jackson, three-run home run; Kelly
Swope, 2-for-4; and Jessica Kulczak, 2-for-4, double, RBI.
Tayler Bowen was 2-for-3 for Otsego (13-14, 4-9).
Woodmore 6, Lake 0
In Woodville, Woodmore scored three times in the second inning en route to the NBC win.
Maddie Phillips threw a two-hitter, ending Lake’s season at 11-18, 4-10.
Lake’s Megan Williams was 2-for-3.

win district titles
At Oak Harbor, Eastwood’s Brittany Brittian and Elise Wolff won district championships. MEET
RESULTS

Brittian
threw 120-11 to win the discus; Wolff cleared 10-6 to win the pole vault.
The top four finishers in each event qualified for next week’s regional at Lexington High School.
The district continues tonight and Friday.
