Connor Senn and Grant DeWitt each scored twice Friday night to help Bowling Green to a 7-3 win over Rocky
River in the Thornton Park Invitational high school hockey tournament at Shaker Heights.
The Bobcats scored five straight goals to pull away from a 1-1 tie.
DeWitt’s power-play goal broke the tie with 1:58 remaining in the second period and Jeremy Chambers
increased BG’s lead to 3-1 just 24 seconds later.
Goals from Brock Powers, Clark Mayberry and DeWitt gave BG a 6-1 lead by the 10-minute mark of the third
period.
The Bobcats held a 43-19 edge in shots. BG’s Tanner Fausnaugh made 16 saves.
“We were pretty good from the get-go,” BG coach Dan DeWitt said.
The goals from DeWitt and Chambers in the second period came after River tied the game on the power play
just 1:14 into the period.
“We did a good job of being resilient,” coach DeWitt said. “We kept our composure and kept getting better
during the game.”
The Bobcats are 6-3 overall, while River is 8-3.
BG finishes the round-robin portion of the tournament with games this afternoon at 3 against Shaker (8-2)
