The Bowling Green girls bowling team finished seventh in the Division I state tournament on Saturday at
Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.
In the qualifying round of the 16 state finalists, the Bobcats finished sixth to advance to the
championship round.
Eventual champion Beavercreek defeated BG in the first round of the bracketed finals, 3-2.
The championship bracket is contested using the Baker format where all five bowlers alternate shots for
one combined score.
BG fell behind 0-2, but rebounded to win the next two games to force a deciding fifth game.
BG’s fourth game of 233 was the highest Baker game of the day by any of the 16 teams in the qualifying
round as well as the championship round bracket. Unfortunately for the Bobcats they followed with its
lowest Baker game of the day to end its title hopes.
Beavercreek won the match 158-157, 201-141, 166-168, 173-233 and 148-126.
In qualifying, all five team members bowled more than 500. As a team BG had games of 881, 877 and 893 for
2,651, adding Baker games of 145, 166 and 161 for a total of 3,123.
The lone senior on the team, Kelsey Parker rolled games of 200 and 187 in her 560 series to rank 20th
individually among more than 100 bowlers.
Juniors Alisha Noon finished with a 224 for 535, 35th overall, while Kyra Beeker had a 190 game and
totaled 533, 37th in the state. Sophomore Gabriella Calderon had a 190 for 520; while Junior Kirsten
Knell completed the team scoring with a 189, 503.
